Birdy update!

I have not been able to snag a picture, but a few days after egg #1 appeared, egg #2 appeared! momma and poppa bird do not leave the nest long enough for me to snap a picture, and the nest is getting all feathery and cute. We are still able to go out on the balcony, they seem to be alright with us which is a nice compliment (they must know we are animal lovers)

I can't wait for their babies to hatch! I'm thinking perhaps we should look up pigeon feed and leave a small container on the balcony so they do not have to hunt for garbage for the babies..

in other news, I have a new print up! I really like this one, and it comes in a reverse print with the roots brown and the background light too.

Birdy Update!

Well I managed to snap some photos...how cute is this?
see my smashed tomato plant? aw. well the good news is, it was still alive so I managed to pick it out with it's root ball and transplant it. hopefully it will take and flourish on it's own now.

I was worried that the birdies would abandon the nest after that, but they didn't seem to mind, as they came back later that day

well they DEFINITELY did not mind, because look what happened last night! The mummy laid a tiny little egg! I'm pretty chuffed about it actually, we're out on the balcony all the time several times a day, and they know this so they must feel that we are gentle and safe!

These little birds are really starting to grow on me, they're pretty cute if you watch them, and they puff up all fat and squishy when in the nest.

I managed to snap this pic when the mommy flew off for a few minutes, she stayed there all night last night, and most of the morning. The poppa bird is there right now, so I know they are taking good care of it.

Tomato Battles

So then, I had some lovely little tomato sprouts started in some pots on the balcony, and then the pigeons came. Endless battles of opening the balcony door to shoo them away from my tomato plants began, it was horrible. I am an animal lover but these 2 little ones were getting on my nerves

then they crushed both tomatoes flat. oh it was on.

and then you know what?

they built a nest in the pot!

I concede defeat, and moved the pot off to the side in the shelter. sigh, they sure know where my weak spots are! silly animals
I'll get a picture later on today

And I've got some new tomato sprouts growing in one of those little peat pot kits inside to start over.

First print is live!

Well my first print is live on etsy, I'm not sure why I waited so long!
A little bit of history....I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil (of course, it wasn't very good back then) and began taking art as a career very seriously in early high school. I took tons of drawing courses, both accredited and casual, and yet veered into the world of sculpture and installation (which, by the way, I love) in early university. Drawing and illustration has always stayed in the back of my mind at the top of the list of "desirable things to do" and thanks to some very inspirational people I've decided that much like anything, there is never a perfect moment to begin any endeavor, there is just this moment. So here we go.

I've made a (now public, i suppose) promise to myself to draw something (anything, good or bad) every single day to keep those juices flowing.

Ottoman is finished!

yes, it took me longer than it should have, but oh well. it's finished and so soft! I can't seem to get a good photo of it, the fabric (which is beautiful) looks awful in all my photos...which is why I am an artist, sculptor, and seamstress...and NOT a photographer. hehe, just more reason to get a new camera I suppose, more options and less problems
Back to the ottoman, it matches my pillows, and I am slowly transforming our apartment into a green paradise. I love green, it's so earthy and fresh.

Anyway, I've got a few more drawings to scan which is exciting..and I'm going to go do some more sewing in the next few minutes. I'm very productive lately. So some new things will be popping into my shop in the next few days I imagine

summer is on it's way!

Well I finally picked up some more staples so I can finish off the ottoman, which I am going to do tomorrow morning so I can get some nice pictures of it. i'm so proud!

I also picked up some more potting soil, and some seeds...I am going to plant the rest of my tomatoes on the balcony, and a planter with some nasturtiums (did you know they are edible? news to me! but I am going to eat them this year! ^___^ ) and a ton more seeds for my parents house...they are letting me have a section in the garden so I am going to grow zucchini, cucumber, snow peas, and spring onions! mmm.
